12th edition of the National Level Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon (VVMCM) to Flag off on 8 December 2024, Registrations begin!

MUMBAI, 13 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): Online registrations for the 12th edition of the National Level Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon (VVMCM), to be held on December 8, 2024, were launched by Mr. Anilkumar Pawar (IAS), Commissioner of the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVMC) at a Press Conference held in the city on Friday. The event will be organised by the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation and the Vasai Taluka Kala Krida Vikas Mandal and promoted by Aryanz Sports PR & Events.

The occasion was also used to announce new initiatives and additions to the event, as well as welcome new partners to the family.

Also present at the occasion were Additional Municipal Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Herawade, Prakash Vanmali, Head Coordinator, Marathon Organizing Committee, besides representatives of the Partners to the event.

The registration fees for the full marathon, half marathon and 10K will be Rs 850 plus taxes and convenience fee, while the fees for the 5K will be Rs 800 plus taxes and convenience fee, announced the Commissioner. Participants will receive a Branded T-Shirt, Timing Bib, 3D Medal, Hot Breakfast, water and energy drinks, Free Photograph and Timing Certificate. Registrations can be done through the event website www.wmm.in.

Addition of Age Categories: In an effort to encourage the elderly and senior citizens to stay healthy through running, the Commissioner announced an addition of three age categories to the event. The Full Marathon for women will be see an addition of the age group 55 and above, while the 10K and 5K distances will have added categories for 60 and above for men and women, respectively.

Battle Run Resumes: The Commissioner also announced the resumption of the Battle Run, an exclusive event for Running Clubs. The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Marathon is the only event to organize this event exclusively for Running Clubs and the event will offer prize money of Rs 3 lakhs for the best five clubs.

To be organized over the Half Marathon distance, clubs can nominate four member teams for the Battle Run, among them one woman. Only one member can be below the age of 25. Structured to benefit the amateur runners, the Battle Run will be open to men and women who have timings slower than 1.35 hrs and 1.45 hrs, respectively.
