MUMBAI, 13 SEPTEMBER, 2024 (GPN): Among the 24 public holidays notified by the state government, the festival of Eid-e-Milad has been marked on Monday, September 16 , 2024. Eid-e-Milad is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims on a large scale. A big procession program is organized on this occasion to celebrate the festival.
Considering the ongoing Ganesh festival which is the biggest Hindu festival and the Anant Chaturdashi being observed on Tuesday 17th September, 2024 this year the Muslims in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs and some other districts have decided to take out the procession on Wednesday September 18 , 2024. In order to maintain peace and social harmony between the two communities
Due to this , the public holiday of Eid-e-Milad which was declared on Monday, September 16, 2024 in the district of Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburbs has been cancelled and it is now declared as Wednesday. The General Administration Department has issued a notification to announce Eid-e-Milad state public holiday on 18th September , 2024.
In addition to the districts of Mumbai City and Mumbai suburbs, the Collector in other relevant districts of the state should decide the date taking into consideration the dates of the procession taken by both communities, notified The General Administration Department that has informed the concerned Collectors to decide whether to declare a public holiday on September 18, 2024 in their respective districts.
