Sahana Mehta won the 1st prize in the 500+D m as well as 2nd prize in the 1000 m rink competition

MUMBAI, 17 FEBRUARY, 2023: 11-year-old Sahana Mehta from Orchids The International School – Malad (West) recently won a gold medal at the District Sports Office (DSO) Skating competition held at Ameya skating rink Virar west. She won the 1st prize in the 500+D m rink segment of the competition and also won a silver medal in the 1000 m rink

Sahana participated in the DSO level of the competition for the first time and had to compete with opponents 3 years older than her. She cleared the district level of the competition by bagging two gold medals in the 1000 m and 500+D m rink competitions. Qualifying for the Division level of the competition, she then won 1st prize in 500+D m rink and 2nd prize in 1000 m rink competitions. This included competing against children from Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur, Pune, Amravati, Ahmednagar, Latur, etc.

Sahana has been honing her skating skills since the age of 4. She has participated in several skating competitions over the years. In 2020 and 2021, she came 1st in the district-level competition of the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI). This was followed by winning 3 gold medals in 3 races of the state-level competition. In 2020, Sahana represented Maharashtra at the National level of the competition held in Mohali.
