Ms. Darshanaben Nayanbhai Shah, 67 years old Jain devotee of Ahmedabad
MUMBAI, 05 DECEMBER, 2021 (GPN): “Fill it with a meal, Shut it & Forget it for the next three consecutive days” for 2500 times!
Darshnaben (67 years), a resident of Ahmedabad has been subsisting only on boiled water, from sunrise until sunset, for every three consecutive days (Attham) and a meal on the fourth day – continuously for past 27 years, chanting several Jain Shlokas/Mantras, braving all odds of ill health, including Corona, few surgeries and material obstacles & responsibilities. Numerically speaking, total fasts for 7500 days out of 10,000 days!
Inspired by a Jain Muni/saint Mohjeetvijayji (Mota Pandit Maharaj Saheb), a powerhouse of knowledge, she embarked on such formidable fasting for the cause of “TirthRaksha” since 14/7/1994, so that the Ownership & Supremacy of the sacred/pious Jain place of pilgrimage- Sammet Shikharji falls back in the hands of Shree Shwetamber Murtipujak Jain Sangh. This case has been pending in Supreme Court awaiting hearing.
She had also been blessed and cautioned too about the long arduous struggle ahead by the now Spiritual Sovereign of Mohjeetvijayji Samuday, Jainacharya Shri Yugbhushansuriswarji, an eminent scholar of several philosophies besides Jainism, Ayurveda, International Politics, Modern Science, Geography, Law, Astrology, Astronomy, Architecture etc.
With undaunted faith and loyalty to her Dev Guru & Dharma and an indomitable spirit, this Jain shravika (lay woman worshiper), has steadfastly pursued her pledge (Bhishma Pratignya), even in this “Kalyug-dark times” under the aegis of Jainacharya Shri Yugbhushansurishwarji, reminding one of the continuous fasting for six months undertaken by Champa shravika in the reign of Emperor Akbar.
He was thus impressed by the Tenets of Jainism. If Darshnaben’s exemplary courage in staking her life, for the sake of Jin Shashan, fails to inspire/awaken those capable-responsible for TirthRaksha, then their capabilities are wasted, responsibilities stand compromised and religiosity stays questioned, enunciates Jainacharya Shri Yugbhushansuriswarji.
