India Red Cross Society receive donation of 12 tonnes of food products from the Government of Kenya for distribution in COVID affected regions in Maharashtra

Mr. Willy Bett, The Hon’ble High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya, hands over a consignment of 12 tonnes of food products to the Indian Red Cross Society, Maharashtra Branch as a part of covid relief that will be distributed within the Covid-affected regions of Maharashtra.

MUMBAI, 28th MAY, 2021 (GPN): The Indian Red Cross Society is presently making enormous efforts to provide relief to people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and to alleviate human suffering to the extent we can.


The Government of Kenya has very graciously donated a consignment of 12 tonnes of products that Kenya is famous for – their Tea, Coffee & Groundnut, to be distributed as food packets within the Covid-affected regions of Maharashtra.

The Hon’ble High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Willy Bett had personally visited Mumbai from Delhi on Friday 28th May ’21, and has handed over the donation to Red Cross at the IRCS Office, in the Town Hall Compound. Describing the gesture, Mr. Bett said “The Government of Kenya wishes to stand in solidarity with the people and Government of India during this time of Covid-19 pandemic by donating consumable food stuffs.  This donation is directed to the Heroes and Heroines of Covid-19 pandemic i.e. the Frontline Care Givers who continue working for long hours to save lives.”

Mr. Homi Khusrokhan, Vice Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Maharashtra Branch said, “This donation symbolizes the empathy that the people of Kenya have for the people of India at this difficult time. It reassures us to know that We are not alone!
