1. PM Modi will inaugurate the ‘New Bhaupur- New Khurja section’ of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) on 29th December, 2020 at 11 AM via video conferencing.
2. Nation pays homage to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary : On the occasion of the 96th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Modi released a book titled ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume’, highlighting the life and works of the former Prime Minister.
3. The union transport ministry on Sunday extended the validity of motor vehicle documents like driving licence (DL), registration certificate (RC) and permits till March 31, 2021, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
4. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Dy CM Manish Sisodia on Sunday reached the Singhu border to visit the Guru Tegh Bahadur Memorial on the occasion of the Sahibzada Day. Taking the opportunity to address the agitating farmers, Kejriwal issued an appeal to the Centre to revoke the three agrarian reforms.
5. Bihar ally JDU has said that there was ‘no need for Love-Jihad law’ in Bihar. Speaking after the JDU National council on Sunday, JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi said that the atmosphere created by these ‘Love Jihad laws’ was not good. JDU has also maintained that there is no need for NRC in Bihar. This comment comes amid strained relations between JDU and BJP after 6 of 7 JDU MLAs switched to BJP in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.
6. Farmers on Sunday beat “thalis” at a few places in Punjab and Haryana during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme as part of their protest against the Centre’s new agri laws.
7. Rashtriya Loktantrik Party convenor Hanuman Beniwal announced a split from the BJP-led NDA over the Farm laws. He is a Lok Sabha MP from Nagaur in Rajasthan.
8. The Finance Ministry permitted Rajasthan to borrow Rs 2,731 crores after its successful Ese of Doing Business reforms. The other five states that have completed the reforms are Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
9. Sourav Ganguly met West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar for nearly two hours at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, triggering speculation whether he was going to be fielded as the BJP’s trump card against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress.
10. Paying tributes to the late PV Narasimha Rao, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday released a Telugu book titled “Viplava Tapasvi: PV”, he also said, bold economic reforms initiated by the former prime minister have helped accelerate the country’s development.
    Describing him as a multi-faceted personality, Mr Naidu said Narasimha Rao was a great scholar, litterateur and multi-linguist.

12. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has been admitted to Doon Hospital in Dehradun for COVID-19 treatment. Mr Rawat tested positive for COVID-19 on December 18 and had been undergoing home isolation.
13. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday left for Italy on a personal visit even as the debate on the usefulness of farm laws raged and the farmers’ agitation continued.
14. A lawyer from Fazilka died after allegedly consuming some poisonous substance at the Tikri border, a site of the ongoing farmers’ protests, sources said on Sunday—at least the third such incident to be reported in the last two weeks

21. In a major success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army’s Romeo Force (Rashtriya Rifles), a militant module working in Poonch district was busted on Sunday (December 27, 2020). The security forces foiled a major plot of an attack on religious places. As many as three militant associates have been arrested so far and six grenades have been recovered from their possession.
22. Internet-based liquor distribution system has been launched for the serving and retired personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force guarding the LAC with China. The paramilitary force launched the centralised liquor management system (CLMS) sometime back as a solution to the problem of non-availability of the desired liquor brands to its personnel and veterans residing in remote locations.

1. The Indian Air Force will receive the third batch of at least three Rafale fighter jets from French company Dassault Aviation in January,

The first batch of five Rafale jets had flown into India on July 29 and officially inducted in the IAF on September 10 at the Ambala Air Base in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his French counterpart Florence Parly. The second batch of three jets had arrived in India on November 4.
3. Why is diabetes causes?
