
Construction of Government Medical College at Hingoli to be expedited – Amit Deshmukh
Mumbai, November 24, 2020 (GPN): In this time of Corona Pandemic, the importance of medical education has been underlined all over the world. At present, the work of doctors is most difficult, owing this it is our need to produce good doctors. In view of this need, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government is committed to develop medical education related infrastructure, colleges and hospitals in remote areas of Maharashtra, said Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh. In this connection, the work of setting up a government medical college at Hingoli will be expedited, he clarified.
A meeting to start a new government medical college at Hingoli was held at Sahyadri Guest House today. The meeting was attended by the Minister of School Education Prof. Varsha Gaikwad, MP Rajiv Satav, Director of Medical Education Dr. Tatyarao Lahane including relevant officials were present.
Mr. Deshmukh said that the medical education department will inspect the site till next week to see if the site is suitable for setting up a medical college. Also, for setting up a government medical college at Hingoli, the process of transfer of land from the Animal Husbandry Department to the Medical Education Department should be done. After the transfer of the site, the proposal for setting up a medical college will be sent to the Union Ministry of Health. Owing this Work is underway to set up Government Medical Colleges at Sindhudurg, Gondia and Nandurbar. In such work on setting up Government Medical Colleges at Hingoli will also be expedited.
A minimum of 20 acres of land is required to set up a new government medical college. Also the hospital with at least capacity of 300 inpatients bed must be affiliated with the new government medical college. Due to this, the Department of Medical Education will expedite the work of inspecting the land required for the college at Hingoli and for preparing a report in this regard said Mr. Deshmukh. ENDS
