NATIONAL NEWS:

  1. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddav Thackeray launched “Maha Awas Yojana”. The project aims to build 8.82 lakhs of rural houses in 100 days. The project includes construction of toilets as well. The cost of the project has been estimated as Rs 4,000 crores.
  2. The ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu on Saturday said its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue for the 2021 assembly elections and exuded confidence it will win a hat-trick poll next year
  3. Rename Mangalore International airport after Koti Chennaya ‘MLC and District Congress Committee president Harish Kumar urged the Central and state governments — the twin cultural folk heroes of Tulu Nadu.
  1. A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to student activist Gulfisha Fatima in a case related to communal violence in north east Delhi in February .
  2. Farmer unions allow all trains to pass through Punjab for 15 days from Nov 23: Punjab farmer bodies protesting against the Centre’s farm laws on Saturday decided to lift their blockade of passenger trains for 15 days from Monday. However, the farmer bodies said they will again block the rail tracks if the government failed to resolve their issues.
  3. Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s health became critical on Saturday and he was put on ventilator support . He has also suffered a multi-organ failure. The 86-year-old veteran Congress politician is on mechanical ventilation and was intubated on Saturday evening on inotropic support,
  4. One person was killed and at least 23 others were injured when police opened fire at the picketers, who blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway at Panisagar in North Tripura district Saturday in protest against the resettlement of Bru migrants from neighbouring Mizoram.
  5. The Bru issue had started in September 1997 following demands of a separate autonomous district council by carving out areas of western Mizoram adjoining Bangladesh and Tripura. About 30,000 Bru tribals had then fled Mizoram due to the ethnic tension there and took shelter in refugee camps in Tripura.
  6. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu called upon the world community to come together to isolate nations that sponsor terrorism and impose sanctions against them.
  7. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday arrested comedian Bharti Singh following seizure of ganja (cannabis) from her house in suburban Andheri The NCB has been probing the alleged drug use in Bollywood after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June on the basis of WhatsApp chats involving drugs.
  8. One Indian Army jawan attained martyrdom while two civilians sustained injuries as Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Pakistan Army violated ceasefire for five times in the last 12 hours, targetting civilian areas and Army positions.
  9. Lieutenant General Anup Banerji, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), inaugurated a SPECT-CT (Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography) machine at Command Hospital Air Force (CHAF) in Bengaluru, on Friday.
  10. The Indian Armed Forces safely destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) that was fitted in a pipe in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area. The IED was detected by 9RR (Rajputana Rifles) of the Indian Army and J&K Police along with CRPF in Shurat area of Kulgam, after which a bomb disposal squad was called in to defuse the IED.
  11. 57 civil services officer trainees have tested positive for coronavirus at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) at Mussoorie , prompting authorities to close ‘all non-essential departments’ there. All officer trainees, who have tested positive, have been quarantined in a dedicated COVID care centre.

  1. India-Bangladesh may join hands to jointly produce Defence equipment & ships : The defence cooperation and partnership between India and Bangladesh has made significant gains in the last few years, said Raj Kumar, Secretary, Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
  2. India becomes 4th nation to get IMO nod for navigation satellite system recognised by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) as a part of the World Wide Radio Navigation System (WWRNS).
  3. Saudi Arabia withdraw 20 Riyal note with false map of India Ahead of the G20 summit, Saudi Arabia is acting on India’s concerns over the issue on the incorrect map,
  4. Terror flow across Durand Line should stop: India slams Pakistan for destabilising Afghanistan. In a strong statement India has slammed Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for destabilising Afghanistan, saying, “terror flow across Durand Line should stop”. Durand Line is the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
  5. France Advises India, Qatar To Keep Pakistan Origin Technicians Away From Rafale Jets
    After a deal that had been in the works for long, India and France agreed upon delivering 36 Rafale fighter jets to India, from their Dassault Aviation company. As part of the deal, France has already delivered two batches of 5 jets each and they have also been inducted into the Indian Air Force.
  6. Two drones from Pakistan’s direction cross International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba sector
    The incident took place at around 6 pm and the Border Security Force (BSF) troops fired upon the drones. The soldiers are keeping strict vigil.
  7. G20 summit: PM Narendra Modi terms COVID-19 biggest challenge since World War II; calls for new global index post-corona based on talent, technology, transparency and trusteeship towards the planet in the post-corona world.
  8. The 30th edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy was conducted.
  9. The India-Japan Mutual Agreement Procedure won OECD Mutual Agreement Procedure 2019 Award. The procedure won the award for its highest agreement ratio.
  10. RuPay card Phase-II launched jointly by India and Bhutan : India and Bhutan jointly launched RuPay card Phase II. This will now allow Bhutanese citizens to access RuPay network in India.

  1. Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Saturday that the findings of a report that the country’s special forces allegedly killed 39 unarmed prisoners and civilians in Afghanistan were “disturbing and distressing”.
  2. President Xi Jinping said on Saturday that China is ready to step up global COVID-19 vaccine cooperation, and called for better international coordination on policies to facilitate the movement of people.
