New Delhi, October 08, 2020 (GPN): In order to reinforce its commitment towards attaining sustainability in the automotive sector, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is organizing the second phase of the lecture series on “Indian Auto Industry’s Journey to BS VI Milestone”.
Following the acclaim and success of the first phase of the lecture series held in August this year, the core objective of the 2nd phase of the tri-lecture series commencing from October 09, 2020, is to disseminate knowledge, best practices, domain technological experiences, challenges, and learnings in the transition from BS-IV to BS-VI, in order to minimize vehicular emissions.
Sharing details about the opportunities, Mr Prashant K Banerjee (Executive Director, SIAM), said “The auto industry has very well demonstrated its capabilities and resilience by implementing BS-VI norms in the shortest possible time frame. While this transformation was met with constant challenges, it also offered a plethora of learnings for every stakeholder, along with the experience to be in the vanguard of where the global scenario is headed.” He further added, “Stricter BS-VI emission norms have made all Indian manufactured vehicles technologically advanced in terms of engine design and emission treatment technologies, thereby, transforming the cornerstone of sustainable mobility.”

The lecture series will shed light on the industry landscape from a lens of policies, regulations, principles, concepts, design, technology, pollution prevention, and climate change. The opening lecture will witness the presence of industry veterans like Mr Girish Ramaswamy (Head of System Engineering, Continental Automotive Components), Ms Pamela Tikku (Sr. GM & Chief Business Officer, International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Mr Sudipto Basu (Executive Director, Emission Controls Manufacturers Association (ECMA), Dr Venkat Srinivas (Sr. VP & Head – Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra) and Mr Harjeet Singh (Executive Advisor, Hero MotoCorp) sharing their experience and learnings acquired during the transformation to BS-VI norms.
