1. *PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate longest highway Atal Tunnel Today on October 3* : The 9.02-km-long tunnel that goes under the Rohtang pass in the eastern Pir Panjal range at an altitude of 3,000 metres on the Leh-Manali highway.

2. *Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and reviewed the preparations for Saturday’s event* where Modi will dedicate it to the nation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday visited the Atal tunnel in Rohtang, a day before its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

3. *Hathras case* : Massive protest in Delhi as hundreds gather at Jantar Mantar against the alleged gangrape. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal demands strictest punishment for accused.

4. *UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday suspended the Superintendent of Police,* Hathras, Vikrant Veer, and four other local policemen for alleged dereliction of duty in the events that led to the death of a 19-year-old woman and then her hasty cremation in the dead of the night in absence of her family members.

5. *Hathras case: 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras by four men* . She died at Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital on Tuesday morning. While her family maintained that the victim had been subjected to gang rape, top police officials in Lucknow claimed that rape had not been proved in the autopsy report.

6. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said every woman in this country needs to raise her voice and question the government to seek justice for the daughter of Hathras. *West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to lead protest march against Hathras rape on Saturday.*

7. *Panic gripped Talasi village in Hamirpur district as the skeleton of a 21-year-old girl, who went missing in May this year, was recovered* last evening from the forest near her house after 140 days.The skeleton was recovered on the interrogation of the accused.

8. The Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Skekhawat presented the *Swachh Bharat Awards, 2020.* The awards were given under cleanliness categories and drinking water category.

9. *Gujarat won the first prize under Swachh Sundar Samudayik Shouchalaya category at state level* . The Tirunelveli of Tamil Nadu got the first prize at district level. The Chinnanur village of Tamil Nadu bagged the first prize a Gram Panchayat level

10. *PM Modi is to inaugurate VAIBHAV Summit.* VAIBHAV is Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik. The summit is to be held between October 2, 2020 and October 31, 2020.

11. The main objective of the VAIBHAV Summit is to bring together the Indian academic experts spread all over the world to discuss and bring out mechanism that will help strengthen Science and Technology base in India. This will provide a new dimension to Atal innovation mission.

12. *The inter-state bus service from Himachal Pradesh would resume after six months,* subject to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the state Transport Department, after ensuring full readiness to comply with the SOPs.

Actress Payal Ghosh claimed on Friday that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has lied before the police while giving his statement, in response to the sexual harassment charges she has levelled against him. Payal wants lie detector, polygraph test and narco analysis to be performed on the filmmaker against whom she has levelled #metoo charges.

18. *Defence Ministry places 10 lakh hand grenades order with private sector for the first time*: The order has been placed for the supply of 10 lakh hand grenades. These grenades will replace the vintage design grenades that are in use. So far, these products were either imported or made by the Ordnance factories. The cost of the grenades is less as compared to the manufacturing cost of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB)

19. *RBI ordered banks to disable credit and debit cards, which haven’t been used for transactions* , within India or abroad. The option to enable or disable services, change transaction limits will be available round the clock, as per the new rules.

4. *The United States slammed China over its illegal claim on Arunachal Pradesh saying it has recognised the state as Indian territory for nearly six decades.* Issuing a statement, it further said that it strongly opposes any “unilateral attempts to advance territorial claims by incursions, by military or civilian incursions across the established line of actual control.

5. 820 international flights scheduled from 19 countries in October under phase 7 of Vande Bharat Mission. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said 16.45 lakh Indians have been repatriated through different modes of the Vande Bharat Mission till September 30.

* FACTS ABOUT INDIA*

*Lal Bahadur Shastri*
( 2 October 1904 – 11 January 1966) was an Indian politician who served as the second Prime Minister of India.
Shastri was born to Sharada Prasad Srivastava and Ramdulari Devi in Mughalsarai on 2 October 1904, sharing his birthday with Mahatma Gandhi. He led the country during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965. His slogan ” *Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”* became very popular during the war. The war formally ended with the Tashkent Agreement on 10 January 1966; he died the following day, still in Tashkent, with the cause of his death in dispute; it was reported to be a cardiac arrest but his family was not satisfied with the proffered reason. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna.

He promoted the White Revolution – a national campaign to increase the production and supply of milk – by supporting the Amul milk co-operative of Anand, Gujarat and creating the National Dairy Development Board. Underlining the need to boost India’s food production, Shastri also promoted the Green Revolution in India in 1965. This led to an increase in food grain production, especially in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
