MUMBAI, 17 SEPTEMBER, 2020 (GPN) : Considering the urgency presented by COVID19, the Directorate of Medical Education has issued a department and speciality wise appointment of bonded candidates. 1,204 candidates shall be hired on a contractual basis according to the new circular. The posts of Senior Residents & Medical Officers would be appointed via this vacancy in Government Medical Colleges, said Minister of Medical Education Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Mr. Deshmukh said that in view of the severe shortage of medical professionals due to COVID19, students who have completed their post-graduation or specialisation would be appointed on the basis of a bonded contract.
The posting shall be determined according to the needs of the District Collector and the number of COVID19 cases in a district. With the number of COVI19 cases increasing in the state of Maharashtra, there is a need for additional and specialist doctors in the dedicated COVID19 wards and hospitals.
Currently at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, 1,648 students are appearing for their post graduate and specialisation courses. The 2020 summer exams have just taken place and the results are expected soon. After the results of the examinations, the Directorate of Medical Education appoints these medical professionals on a contractual basis for students who have passed out from Government or private institutions.
The notification shall appoint 1,204 students on a contractual basis under specific departments. Senior Medical Officers appointed under this notification shall be 444. The posts are normally decided as per the Government order of 4th April, 2012. However, because of the severity of the COVID19 pandemic the Directorate of Medical Education & Research has informed on 14th September, 2020 that would be stopped by 31st March, 2021. Government Hospitals and other Public Health Department Hospitals shall be staffed according to the availability under this new order.
There will be 385 Assistant Professors in Government Medical Colleges, 178 Assistant Professors in Brihanmumbai Mahanagarpalika Medical Colleges, 282 Specialist Officers in Municipal Hospitals and 359 Assistant Officers in Healthcare Hospitals / DCH / DCHC. In addition, 444 specialists will be available for Senior Resident positions, said Minister of Medical Education, Shree Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh.
The contracted services in Government Medical Colleges, BMC Medical Colleges, BMC Hospital, Specialist Medical Officers and Hospitals / DCH / DCHC under Public Health Department will be provided by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research. The list of candidates to be made available for the hospitals / DCH / DCHCs coming under the Public Health Department and for the medical colleges and hospitals of BMC will be given to the Department of Public Health, Director of Health Services and BMC through the Directorate of Medical Education and Research. The stipend / salary of the concerned bonded appointments shall be done according to the rules of the establishment they are to be appointed under.
Candidates recruited at DCH / DCHC through Public Health Department shall be paid a salary of Rs. 1 lakh per month. And for the treatment of COVID19 patients, the candidates appointed on bond basis shall have their accommodation arranged through the concerned establishment. ENDS
