NATIONAL, MUMBAI, 3 SEPTEMBER, 2020 (GPN): One of the great stories of the world. The story of the Ramayana is enacted more often than any other story in the world. It is performed by Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims. It is the most important cultural tradition of Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Nepal and India. It is also widely prevalent in Bhutan, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.

The Ramayana is a great epic of ethics that teaches the values of life to men and women across South and South-East Asia. Scores of generations of children have watched these performances over 1,500 years, to learn the importance of leading an ethical life. The Ramayana has been the cornerstone of the life of South and South-East Asia. Many kings in these countries have taken the name of Rama, and cities and islands have been named after persons and places in the epic. Symbols of Vishnu (whose incarnation is Rama) have been royal emblems across the region.

Ramayana Ballet, Prambanan Temple site, nine miles north of Yogyakarta approx 1 Hour drive The complex is open from 6 AM to 6 PM daily, so people rush to see the Sun set and Ramayana Ballet here.The story of Ramayana being told through the performing art of Ballet is very unique, a thing one gets to witness in the open-air theatre behind the huge Prambanan Temple in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, in the island of Java, Indonesia. Candi Prambanan (Prambanan Temple), as it’s called in the language of Bahasa, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is one of the largest Hindu Temples in South East Asia. It is situated along the Opak River and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

RAMAYANA BALLET at Prambanan is one of the oldest dance traditions in the country, having run since 1961.

This performance which is similar to that engraved on Prambanan temple offers a theatrical performance combined with musical performance that will guide to the past time to follow the story of Prince Rama. This dance- drama is a marvelous visualization of legendary epos in Javanese culture. Ramayana Prambanan invites you to enjoy the story in a set of typical Javanese dance accompanied by gamelan music.

The full-time professional arts, drama, dance and musical of Javanese heritage performance features about 200 performers.
