“The proposed easing of gratuity eligibility norms by the government will create a positive working environment for the employees. The threshold of five-years for gratuity eligibility was formulated decades ago to promote long term work culture. However, the growing trend of contractual employment and declining job security are two key reasons behind for this alteration of policy. In my opinion the gratuity threshold of 2-3years is a workable option and will increase the employee retention rate across all levels.” ENDS
