MUMBAI, 30th JULY, 2020 (GPN): Ketto Asia’s most visited and trusted crowdfunding platforms, has seen an unusual growth curve during these unprecedented times. Ketto allows individuals, NGOs and brands to raise money for medical, social, creative and personal causes.
Making a remarkable progress, Ketto has managed to raise funds worth ₹ 109 crores during this pandemic using them to help and support more than 3 lakh people in various capacities.
They have tirelessly worked for a plethora of causes including distributing Personal Protective equipment (PPE kits), ration kits and even helping the stranded migrants. One of their most outstanding work is done with establishing and working with community kitchens which feeds hundreds of people daily. In these trying times, these places bring a community together and provide them with the courage to sustain.
To throw light on some of the campaigns initiated on Ketto were the ever famous Rambo Circus crew who required funds to sustain themselves. Fashion Designer, Vikram Phadnis had taken a step to help raise funds in feeding the stray dogs in Mumbai. The Indian Women Hockey Team set up a fundraiser to help the migrant families who are in distress. The Dalit community workers’ residing in Dharavi were helped by fashion label, The Chamar Studio. Famous pani puri vendor in South Mumbai who succumbed to COVID, a fund was setup to support his family.
During the lockdown 1.0, a large number of migrants were stranded in Mumbai and were facing layoffs and economic uncertainty. With meagre funds not even enough to support oneself, they could hardly support their families. To combat this, Ghar Bachao, Ghar Banao Andolan, a people’s movement which gained support in the backdrop of massive slum demolition in Mumbai in the early years of this century, worked with Ketto & volunteered in feeding daily wage laborers and under-privileged children.
Ketto’s work is extended towards helping people as well as animals. Several fundraisers for animal welfare and to support strays were successfully completed.
