MUMBAI, 14 DECEMBER, 2019 (GPN): After the controversy in India, the Uddhav government has been adamant about not implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 in Maharashtra. On the one hand, in many states of the country including the Northeast, people have come out on the streets against this law, while there is confusion over whether this law will be implemented in Maharashtra at present. The attitude of the Chief Minister has not been clarified on this. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, people are protesting against this law on the streets.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and Maharashtra Minister Nitin Raut on Friday said that his government will not implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the state. Raut has expressed the same sentiments of non-BJP ruled states, Which are unfavorable for the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019. In the tweet, our government will not implement the Citizenship Amendment Act in Maharashtra.

Earlier in his statement, Maharashtra minister and Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said that the party in Maharashtra will follow the policy of the central leadership, while BJP leader Ashish Shelar wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday in which he was asked without any delay Demand to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the state. The controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 Has become an act after it has been approved by President Ram Nath Kovind.
