Maharashtra Governor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari asks BJP to indicate willingness to form Government in turn CM Fadnavis meets Governor, tenders resignation

IMG-20191110-WA0010IMG-20191110-WA0008MUMBAI, 8th NOVEMBER, 2019 (GPN) : Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis  resigned on Friday. Fadnavis drove to Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai and submitted his resignation to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

There has been no headway in government formation even a fortnight after Assembly poll results were announced on October 24.
The BJP and Shiv Sena are locked in a tussle over the issue of the chief minister’s post, resulting in a stalemate in government formation despite the Assembly poll results giving the alliance a combined seat strength of 161, way past the 145 majority mark in the 288-member House.

IMG-20191110-WA0011The Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari had asked the leader of elected members of the single largest party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Devendra Fadnavis to indicate the willingness and ability of his party to form the government in Maharashtra.

Elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly were held on 21st October and the results were declared on 24th October. However, despite the passage of 15 days, no single party or alliance of parties has come forward to form the government.

The Governor has therefore decided to explore the possibility of formation of Government and today asked the leader of the elected members of the single largest party, that is BJP, to convey its willingness and ability to form the government.the polls, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena-56, NCP-54 and the Congress won 44 seats.ENDS
