MUMBAI, 18 OCTOBER, 2019 (GPN): The demand for higher health insurance cover is increasing among celebrities and high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), as they prefer to avail health care treatment overseas with some of the best hospitals in the world such as The Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins and others. Since the cost of treatment in these world class hospitals comes at cost, it is evident that they would need a higher sum insured to adequately finance their requirements.
Celebrities and HNIs earlier relied on their savings to pay for health care expenses, but now they are beginning to realise the risk that rising health care inflation poses. A serious health problem like an organ transplant or advance stage cancer treatment can easily cost you up to Rs 50 lakh in a good hospital. In the recent past celebrities like Sonali Bendre, Rishi Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan had their medical treatment in some of the best hospitals in the world.
ManipalCigna Health Insurance has partnered with IIFL Wealth to provide global health insurance cover for high net-worth customers. It’s the first Indian health insurance company to offer a wide range of sum insured up to $2.5 million (about ₹17.87 crore) per individual. ENDS
