INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATIONS HOSTED AT RYAN SCHOOLS

MUMBAI, 23 JUNE, 2018 (GPN)  : The idea of International Yoga Day was proposed by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. At the United Nations General Assembly, he said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature’’. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.

Since 2015, when this started, the Ryan Schools have been enthusiastically participating in this event and doing their bit to popularize yoga amongst children.

This year too it was celebrated across all schools in the country. In some schools, experts like Mr. Pravin Chandra Mistry from the Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samstha  and Ms Mohinder Kaur Dosani from Santa Cruz Yoga Institute were called to conduct lec-dems (lecture demonstrations) for the children. These were appreciated a lot by the children. Richa Jha of Class 7, Ryan International School (CBSE), Malad said,” I really enjoyed the session especially the Padmasan and I will do my best to attain more flexibility.”

Ms. Daisy Paul, Principal of the school said that,”Health is one of the key points emphasized by our Chairman Dr. A F Pinto and we normally have PT every day for the kids. Today’s session of Yoga was welcomed by all the kids and we saw many of them discussing the asanas during break periods.”ENDS
