MUMBAI, 8 JUNE,  2017 (GPN): The Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao today complimented the Maharashtra State Election Commission for successfully conducting elections to various Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis and Gram Panchayats in the State. The Governor particularly lauded the Commission for undertaking various initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of young voters that resulted in increasing the overall voting percentage in the recent elections.

The Governor released the booklet ‘Major Initiatives’ brought out by the State Election Commission on this occasion.

J S Saharia, State Election Commissioner briefed the Governor about various initiatives taken by the Commission such as Voter registration, registration of political parties, voter awareness, etc. Shekhar Channe, Secretary and officials of the Commission were present.Ends
