Children’s from Special Schools performed stage acts supporting the SRCC-Narayana Health mission statement ‘I am BIGGER than my Disease’

Mumbai, November 15, 2017 (GPN) : SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health, celebrated Children’s Day on November 14, 2017, by engaging mainstream and special children in an inter-school quiz competition, Qriosity 2017and showcasing their performance on stage with the slogan ‘I am BIGGER than my Disease’ in the presence of parents and practicing pediatricians.

Children from seven schools participated in the day-long activities organized by the hospital. Four children from mainstream schools– Saraswati Vidyalaya (Mahim), Anjuman Islam’s High School (Tardeo), Kendriya Vidyalaya (IIT Powai) and Hiray institute(Tardeo) participated in quiz competition. Children from 3 Special Schools performed stage acts supporting the SRCC-Narayana Health mission statement ‘I am BIGGER than my Disease’.

In addition, children from Rochiram Thadani High School, Chembur performed Pyramid depictions along with the programme theme of “hum honge Kamyab” mime song. While children treated in the SRCC hospital in the past have performed ‘gymnastics and Bharat natyam’, children from the Society for the education of the crippled (SEC Day school, Antop Hill) displayed ‘Wheelchair dance.’

Dr Purna Kurkure, Medical Director and Senior Consultant Oncology from SRCC Children’s hospital, managed by Narayana Health, said, “We at SRCC Children’s hospital celebrated children’s day by engaging them with various joyful activities and made them feel that they (child) are a source of unconditional love, laughter, and joy in our life. We believe, children are the future and it is our responsibility to nurture them right, so that they grow up to be able leaders and lead the world to a better tomorrow”.ENDS

SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health, is a multi-speciality hospital exclusively for children. Of the 207 beds currently operational, 87 have been allocated for Multispecialty Critical Care covering new-borns to adolescents.

About Society for Rehabilitation of Crippled Children (SRCC): SRCC registered under the Societies Act , 1860  and the Maharashtra Public Trust Act  1950. It was established in 1948 to start Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital to assist children affected by polio. So far, SRCC has provided healthcare benefits to 100,000 children. It aims are to organise hospitals and clinics for diagnosis, care and treatment of disabled and other children needing any other medical treatment.
