MUMBAI : 20 year old Priyanka Shah’s maiden art exhibition based on 14 dreams in Jain
mythology was inaugurated by eminent artist Atul Dodiya, at Prince of Wales museum yesterday evening.

Priyanka, a 3rd year B.A.F. student from H.R. College explained, “In Jain philosophy, the mother of every Tirthankar (the Supreme Deity), gets 14 unique and unusual dreams that revolve around the truth of life and nature. I have attempted to unearth this spiritual mystery of dreams through my artwork that comprises the 14 dreams and a mural around it.”

The topic for her paintings was finalized after discussing it with her teacher and mother. After that it
took her one year and a half to complete it. “There were many topics that I thought about. But I
selected the topic of 14 dreams, as it has a lesson for all of us. The theme of 14 dreams talks about the
way of life and is applicable not only to Jains but to the entire human race irrespective of religion.”
Speaking about her passion for art, Priyanka says she started loving colors at the age of three. Her
parents, both doctors by profession encouraged her to pursue her passion for art. She was trained by a
professional arts teacher and under his guidance she dedicatedly worked with her colors.
Dodiya appreciated her artwork and spoke on the importance of encouragement to children to pursue
subjects of their choice.

The proceeds from the sale of her paintings will be donated to Gitarth Ganga, a Jain library in
Ahmedabad so that she can contribute towards spreading right knowledge, she adds.
The exhibition Dream Decoded will remain open at the Coomaraswamy Hall at Prince of Wales
Museum till Friday from 11 am to 7 pm.
