Indonesian Economic Potentials Promoted in Indonesia Exposé 2016@New Delhi

New Delhi, 12 October 2016 (GPN) : The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia had organised a solo exhibition titled “Indonesia Exposé 2016: Seizing Trade, Investment, Tourism, Industry, and Services Opportunity from Indonesia” at Le Meridien Hotel on 7-9 October 2016.
The Exposé 2016 displayed various typical export-quality commodities from western, central and eastern part of Indonesia namely palm oil, internationally recognised batik cloth and apparels, Rudraksha beads, coffee beans, gold bars and jewellery, food products (Kopiko candies and biscuits), and diapers.

13 representatives from the industrial sector, Regency of Kebumen and Buru Selatan as well as the Embassy had actively participated in the exhibition to promote their commodities to the Indian business communities and traders as well as to seek opportunity for business cooperation.

Ambassador of Indonesia to India HE Rizali Wilmar Indrakesuma in the inauguration of the Exposé stated that the Indonesia Exposé 2016 is part of the Embassy’s economic diplomacy endeavour to promote diversification of Indonesia’s non-oil & gas export products in India, to attract investment from Indian investors, and to enhance tourists visit from India.

Ambassador Rizali also said that the exhibition of Indonesian commodities and a series of seminars with qualified Indonesian experts as speakers in palm oil, coffee, renewable energy, gold, would bring about fruitful outcome from which Indonesian products would be well-known while creating networking among Indonesia – India business communities. This effort was aimed to enhance and deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.

The 3-day Exposé consisted of a series of events namely :
1) seminar and business talk show to showcase Indonesia strong potentials in the sector of palm oil, gold, renewable energy, coffee products, agro products as well as to explain investment
climate in Indonesia;
2) exhibition of Indonesian commodities;
3) gala dinner that pushes Indonesian rich cultures, fashion, culinary and
4) culinary festival at Café One Le Meridien Hotel which presented authentic Indonesian cuisines cooked by Balinese Cooks from Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua.
As part of the cultural diplomacy, the Exposé organised batik workshop using canting
(a tool to paint) and malam (wax to block colour absorption) led by Enggar Collection.

The objective was to introduce Indonesian traditional batik arts to Indian public.
Moreover, the Exposé also presented a performance of “Gamelan”, a traditional instrument from Java, played by the wife of Ambassador Rizali and Ladies of the Embassy.
As part of the gastro diplomacy, Indonesian chefs conducted a demo using national
palm oil products by cooking popular Indonesian cuisines such as chocolate banana fritters, spring rolls, sauté tofu, fried rice, and fried noodle which could be tasted directly by the audiences.
The solo exhibition was organised by the Embassy in association with Indian chambers of commerce and industry namely Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), PHD Chambers, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), India Chambers of Commerce (ICC); Aditya Birla Group; and Le Meridien Hotel.

In the closing ceremony, the Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Dalton Sembiring had big hopes that the economic cooperation between Indonesia and India would go deeper based on common grounds that cover multi-sectors.
Indonesia Exposé 2016 was designed to provide platform and bring immense opportunity for business communities and traders from Indonesia and India to trade in goods and services, create networking and attract investment. To have a continuous
communication among the business communities, the Embassy plans to organise suchsolo exhibition in India periodically.
