Government of India goes all out to push year 2020 export target of USD 900 billion Launches CAPINDIA 2016 to promote exports of chemicals, plastics and allied products

Mumbai, January 12, 2016. In a major initiative to promote exports of chemicals, plastics and allied products, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry today formally launched CAPINDIA 2016. To be held at NESCO in Mumbai in March under the aegis of Department of Commerce, the 3-day event is jointly organised by Plexconcil, Chemexcil, Capexil and Shefexil and would be the one of the largest such gatherings so far in India. Presented as Indias show for global markets, the event will showcase complete value chain with thousands of Indian and international buyers expected to explore investment and global trade opportunities. The department of Commerce aims to create the single-largest form CAPINDIA 2016 that will be held annually.

Speaking at the curtain-raiser event, Shri B.S Bhalla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said, Chemicals, plastics and allied products will play a major role in achieving the governments vision of raising exports to $900 billion by 2020. Currently exports under the four councils account for exports of $ 35 billion and have a significant scope of growth. We are working closely with the industry players and are implementing strategies to exploit the opportunities for investments and increasing Indian exports. With the new and simplified Foreign Trade Policy 2015, we are confident of making Indian products as the most competitive globally.

Promoting exports has been an important aspect of governments Make in India mission. Enhancing domestic production and help sourcing of markets overseas for Indian products are the two aspects of this mission. Continued Shri B.S Bhalla, We sincerely appreciate this unique joint endeavor by four of our export promotion councils. While sharing a common vision of making in India and making it for the world, it is time that India offers a complete value chain solution for the sector. We have the manpower, expertise, enterprise, natural resources and the right policy environment to emerge as the global manufacturing hub and enhance our exports substantially.

CAPINDIA 2016 is one among several of the endeavors supported by the Department of Commerce along with export promotion councils and major industry bodies of chemicals, plastics and allied products. It is also expected that SMEs would get special attention as bulk of the manufacturing in India is done by small and medium enterprises.

CAPINDIA 2016 would be held in Mumbai between March 20 and 22, 2016. Manufacturers and exporters of industrial and agricultural inputs covering a range of basic chemicals including organic, inorganic, agrochemicals, dyes & dyestuff, polymers, Castor oil and its derivatives, polymers, masterbatches, paints, printing inks, glues, pigments, varnishes, allied products, guar gum powder, tamarind kernel powder, aleutitic acid, medicinal herbs/extracts will be showcased during the event. Also on display will be packaging items including paper & paper products, consumer items covering house ware, writing instruments, stationery items, books, publication, printing products, cosmetics and toiletries, flavors and fragrances, essential oils etc., besides plastics processing machinery.

Over 125 foreign buyers are expected to attend the buyer seller meet. Buyers from market such as Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Belarus have confirmed their attendance. Trade delegation from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Turkey etc. are also likely to attend CAPINDIA 2016
