Mumbai, 6th September 2019 (GPN) : The fifth CAPINDIA 2019 Expo – India’s largest sourcing and networking event for plastics, consumer & packaging materials, chemicals,  building & construction material, mining & mining products, allied machinery, shellac, forest and allied products – is being organised under the aegis of the Department of Commerce, Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India (GOI), supported by Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, GOI, and organised jointly by PLEXCONCIL, CHEMEXCIL, CAPEXIL & SHEFEXIL. This expansive ‘Made In India’ showcase of India’s manufacturing capacities and capabilities (including its abilities to service overseas markets) will be held from 2nd to 4th December 2019 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.

The 3-day exhibition will be spread over 10,000 sq. mt. and will host 500+ manufacturers/exporters, who will showcase hundreds of products to 400+ overseas buyers from 35 countries a range of Plastics, Consumer Items, Packaging Items, Plastics Processing Machinery, Chemicals, Dyes, Intermediates, Industrial & Agricultural Raw Materials, Construction Materials, Mining & Mineral Products, Shellac, Forest and allied products amongst others. It will have Buyer-Seller meets for exhibitors; Branding and Partnership Opportunities; and Industry Related Seminars. 5th CAPINDIA 2019 will be attended by Domestic & Overseas buyers, International Agents and Distributors seeking market representation from Indian exporters, End Users seeking raw materials for captive consumption, Private Label Buyers, Merchant Exporters, Industrial and Marketing Consultants, Central and State Government Departments & Agencies and many more.

In sync with the Hon. Prime Minister’s Vision 2022 for increasing India’s exports in key sectors, the intention is to make 5th CAPINDIA 2019 bigger than ever before, encourage participation from all Indian exporters and attract discerning global buyers.

Mr. Ravish Kamath, Chairman, PLEXCONCIL, said,5th CAPINDIA 2019 is a very significant calendar event for international buyers and it gains greater significance as our Honourble Union Commerce & Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal has set a target to triple India’s exports from USD 331 billion to USD 1 trillion within a short span of 5 years. India’s plastics exports in 2018-19 were USD 10.89 billion (up 24% from exports in 2017 -18 of USD 8.85 billion). Globally plastics is a 1 trillion-dollar economy and this is just enough to demonstrate the vast potential that the segment holds for our fraternity. The plastics industry in India today, is one of the most significant contributors to the world’s economic development and its application has diversified to include a variety of key segments such as automotive, construction, electronics, healthcare, textiles, FMCG, and more. India is exporting to more than 210 countries, across the globe and India’s plastics industry employs over 5 million people and comprises over 50,000 manufacturing units.”  

Shri Ajay K. Kadakia, Chairman, CHEMEXCIL, said,“5th CAPINDIA 2019 will be bigger and better than ever before and will be attended by Domestic/ Export Trade, Overseas Buyers from across the globe, Industry Leaders, Government Officials and Policy makers, Consultants and opinion builders, Education and R&D Experts, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), Investors, MSME/ SME Entrepreneurs and many more. The total export performance of the items covered by Chemexcil for the period April 2018 to March 2019 was USD 19.10 billion as against USD 15.91 billion of the corresponding period of last year (April-2017-March-2018) registering a growth of 19%.  The export performance of Dyes and Dye Intermediates during the year 2018-19 has been to the tune of USD $ 2.8 bn as compared to USD $ 2.4 bn in previous year registering growth of 16.84%, The export performance of Basic Inorganic, Organic & Agrochemicals during the year 2018-19 has been to the tune of US $ 13.55 bn as compared to USD $10.67 bn in previous year registering growth of 26.96%.,  Export performance of Cosmetics, Toiletries & Essential Oils during the year 2018-19 has been to the tune of USD $ 1.84 bn as compared to USD $ 1.8 bn in previous year registering growth of 2.31%,  Export Performance of Castor Oil and its derivatives during the year 2018-19 has been to the tune of USD $ 0.8 bn as compared to USD $ 1.0 bn in previous year registering decline of -15.35%.

The Indian chemicals industry with a market size of US$ 145 billion is the seventh largest producer of chemicals worldwide and the third largest producer in Asia after China and Japan. India is the third largest producer of agro chemicals globally and exports 50% of its production. Specialty chemicals market has been growing at 14% over the last five years due to domestic consumption and the market size is expected to touch US$ 70 billion by 2020. It is a capital intensive industry which employs approx. 2 mn people in India. 5th CAPINDIA 2019 will help us tap immense opportunities for growth, which exist in the fields of specialty chemicals, polymers and agrochemicals industries as ‘Make in India’ initiative further facilitates growth and investment.”

Mr. R. Veeramani, President, CAPEXIL, said, “The government has set an ambitious plan of 1 trillion dollar exports in goods in the next five years.   This means an almost doubling export figure in the next five years. 5th CAPINDIA 2019 will be one of significant event for export promotion of Chemical based Allied products from India.  The export target fixed for CAPEXIL products is US$ 25.57 billion for the year 2019-20 which marks a substantial growth in exports compared to US$ 22.24 bn in 2017-18. Exports of Minerals and Ores have grown 9.39% and Non-Minerals Products have grown 22.42% respectively compared to 2017-18. The Chemical based Allied sector assumes significance as it contributes over 7 per cent in the country’s total merchandise exports.”

Mr. Ashvin K. Nayak, Chairman, Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL), said “SHEFEXIL’s exports valued at USD 218.2O Million in July 2019, registering a positive growth of 23.64% as compared to exports made in July, 2018.  As compared to exports made in June 2019, exports in July 2019 have increased by 18.87%.  Cumulative exports made during April-July 2019-20 show an increase of 14.88% as compared to cumulative exports of April-July 2018-19.   Cumulative export of all panels has decreased except panels “Fixed Vegetable Oil Cake & Others” and “Vegetable Saps & Extracts”.  Highest growth of exports is recorded in panel “Vegetable Saps & Extracts” i.e.51.99%.”
