Students celebrate Raksha Bandhan with the school’s Didis and Bhaiyyas !

MUMBAI,14 August 2019 (GPN) :  Students of Mount Litera School International, one of Mumbai’s leading IB World schools celebrated Raksha Bandhan today, in a different way.  Since Raksha Bandhan is a symbol for protection, the students wished to salute the efforts of the school’s support staff as part of their celebrations. Hence they spent time thanking the school’s support staff (who the students affectionately address as didi or bhaiyya) for their selfless care. Their idea drew inspiration from the fact that the students feel secure in school due to the continuous efforts of these didis and bhaiyyas who are silent, yet always around.

To express their gratitude, the students distributed sweets and personalized handmade greeting cards amongst more than 120 didis and bhaiyyas of the school including security guards, helpers and kitchen staff. The students thanked the staff for their continuous efforts of ensuring that the students have a safe and secure environment at school.

Speaking on the initiative, Ms. Mona Seervai, Head of SchoolMount Litera School International said, “Traditionally, siblings celebrate Raksha Bandhan and promise to protect each other. However, this year our students took the concept of protection to a broader canvas and engaged in an activity to thank their didis and bhaiyyas at school who ensure their wellbeing and safety on the campus. Students spent time to make individualised greeting cards, and gave them personally to every member of the staff. It is such initiatives that enable children to think beyond themselves and subtly strengthen their cultural roots.”
