World Braille Day : Viviana Mall exhibits Braille-led Innovations

  • Viviana Mall, India’s first visually friendly mall celebrated the World Braille Day
  • In collaboration with Xavier’s Resource Center for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC) displays and demonstrates more than 30 Braille devices, competent in today’s world

Mumbai, 4th January 2019 (GPN) : On the occasion of World Braille Day, Viviana Mall, India’s first visually friendly mall exhibited more than 30 Braille-led equipment. It was for the first time ever that the common people got to experience the innovations that have happened over the years through Braille in creating equipment which aid Visually Impaired people in leading an independent, successful and fulfilling life. Many of the equipment which was on display is put to use by the Mall authorities on a day to day basis, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for the visually challenged too.

Viviana Mall has always been at the forefront of creating a space which facilitates equal access to all. Through this, Viviana Mall aptly showcased their continued effort in creating a more inclusive milieu for the visually challenged.

Commenting on the occasion, Ms Rima Pradhan, Sr-VP, Marketing, Viviana Mall shared, “This day is a reminder of the significance of accessibility and liberty for those who are visually impaired. In today’s day and age majority of everyday establishments aren’t equipped with facilities in Braille. Thus leaving the visually impaired vulnerable. We believe that everyone deserves an environment which is equally accessible, regardless of their disability. And through this, we look forward to creating awareness about Braille and other accessible forms of communication”

Equipment such as Smartcane, Tactile tiles, Talking Calculator, Talking Thermometer, Accessible Menu Card and many others were kept at the display. Exhibition of such diverse equipment left the mall customers amazed. The display and demonstration of sports and games related products like a cricket ball, chess board, snakes and ladder for the visually impaired further added to the amusement of the mall visitors
