Over 600 entries confirmed for Rs 50 lakh Mr India Championships

MUMBAI,  21 MARCH,  2018 (GPN) :  Over 600 athletes from 43 units affiliated with the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF) will convene in Pune, with the 11th Mr. India Senior Men’s & Women’s Bodybuilding & 6th Men’s & Women’s Physique Sports National Championships scheduled to be held at the Shri Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, from March 23 to 25, 2018.

Chetan Pathare, General Secretary of the Indian Body Builders Federation informed that “Athletes from the Government Sports Control Boards along with participants from various states and union territories will be vying for the top honours and a slice of the whopping prize money fund of over Rs.50 lakhs, a figure unprecedented in the history of Body Building and Physique Sports, in India. The Overall Champion – Mr India 2018 will be awarded with the cash award of Rs.7,50,000/- which again is the highest amount so far offered in India”.

The likes of Sunit Jadhav, Nitin Mhatre, Sagar Katurde, Akshay Mogarkar, Atul Amre, and Mahendra Chavan- all from Maharashtra- will be strong contenders for the title in Senior Men’s Bodybuilding. Indian Railways will also be fielding a strong contingent, consisting of accomplished athletes like Javed Ali Khan, Ram Niwas, Bhaskaran, Kiran Patil, Sagar Jadhav and Pritam Choughule. Anooj Kumar and T H Dayanand will pose a strong challenge representing services. Other prominent names include Pritam Singh and Ram Tudu of CRPF, C Rahul of Telangana & Anil Gochikkar of Orrisa.

The Senior Women’s Body Building competition consists of the likes of Kanchi Advani (Maharashtra), Sarita Devi(Manipur) and Mamota Devi (Delhi).

The athletes to look out for in the Physique Sports for Men will be Rahul Patankar, Kiran Sathe (Maharashtra). The Model Physique competition for Women is expected to throw up a tough fight between Sanju (UP),  Ankita Singh (Karnataka) Stell Goude and Dr Reeta Tari. (Maharashtra). Nishrin Parikh (Maharashtra), competing at the age of 51, represents a remarkable story.

Organised by the Indian Body Builders Federation, the 11th Mr. India Championships will be powered by Optimum Nutrition, with Honda, Viva Fitness, being the Equipment Partner, Talwalkars being the Fitness Partner, Avvatar Sports Nutrition being the Nutritional Partner, and Firstfitt being the Gym Partner, in association with Animal Booster, SAF Fitness and MENCON, Eugenics Nutrition  as other sponsors. Mr Deepak Mankar, Ex Deputy mayors is also the sponsor to the event.
