•THE AIRLINE’S 15TH AIRCRAFT FLIES INTO CHENNAI, CONNECTING BENGALURU AND BHUBHANESWAR
•IT’S HOMECOMING FOR THE AIRLINE AND IT’S PEOPLE!
Bengaluru, 15th January 2018 (GPN) : AirAsia India is back to where it started on a high note over three years ago with the launch of Chennai as its 17th destination along with the induction of the 15th aircraft. And this time, the airline is back to the gateway of South India with a bang, solidifying its presence by launching 5 daily flights connecting Chennai to Bengaluru and Bhubaneshwar.
Chennai or Madras as it’s popularly called among its residents, boasts scenic beaches, temples, art, music & culture; not to forget the fervor for showbiz! Chennai is home to some of the stalwarts of Indian cinema and AirAsia takes pride in being able to fly the people from there! With the AirAsia group already operating direct flights to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from Chennai, we expect a boom in inbound and outbound tourism across the region.
Announcing the new routes and aircraft induction, Mr. Amar Abrol, MD & CEO, AirAsia India, said, “We ended 2017 on a highly positive note and are delighted to continue the same momentum in 2018. We are happy to make this announcement in the first quarter of 2018, and reinforce our commitment to enhancing connectivity and making air travel affordable to one & all. Chennai has always been close to our heart since we started off from there and has always been a popular route among guests. We expect that the Chennai – Bhubaneswar route will boost religious/cultural tourism from both markets. On a personal note as well, this is our Pongal gift to our Allstar family from the region and our fan base in Chennai!”
Bookings for all the new sectors are open for sale; guests can book their flights on www.airasia.com and avail all in fares from as low as INR 1299 and INR 2699 for flights connecting Bangalore & Chennai and Bhubaneshwar & Chennai respectively.
Effective 24th February 2018, AirAsia India will operate 3 daily flights between Chennai and Bangalore and 2 daily flights between Chennai and Bhubaneshwar.ENDS
