Showstopper, Anil Kapoor for Ragahvendra Rathore

Saturday, 11th November, 2017 (GPN) : Eminent designer, Raghavendra Rathore unveiled his collection, ‘Bandhgala Alliance’ at the GQ India Fashion Night. The collection paid tribute to the effortless amalgamation of tailored looks for men and women representing an unspoken union between the genders over a garment so definitive yet so versatile.

The showstopper was the evergreen epitome of fashion, Anil Kapoor, looking every bit suave and splendid in a balck hand woven achkan with intricate craftsmanship, custom made by weaver in Bhadohi paired with breeches and pink pocket square to complete the regal attire.

Known for his metamorphosis of the Jodhpur Bandhgala jacket and suit, Raghavendra Rathore’s designs celebrate the magnificence of Indian regalia and heritage, which he translates into customized clothes and accessories.

Exemplifying finely tailored cuts, soft silhouettes and subtle shades, an array of everlasting Bandhgalas, Jodhpur breeches, waistcoats, kurtas, achkans, dresses and evening wear tunics carried with them the Raghavendra Rathore trademark.

But what stood out at the show this year was how a single piece of men’s clothing inspired the designer to create an entire range of women’s clothing, as well.

Speaking to us at the event, Mr. Rathore said “With the new GST regime, a new decorum is required when working with handloom weavers, artisans and other suppliers who contribute in creating the bare essentials of a collection, that a designer brand churns out for its precious customers. The collection being presented at the GQ Fashion Nights, is a well calibrated collection that has a strong handloom indulgence, with a focus of the inspiration being the classic Jodhpuri Bandhgala.”

While it was after a two-year hiatus that Raghavendra Rathore returned to the Mumbai ramp, this was definitely one of the most majestic fashion industry comebacks that will be etched in the minds of the audience for a long time! ENDS
