~ Last year’s Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup winner Sachin Chaudhary finished both Round 2 Open races of Suzuki Gixxer Cup in 4^th position

India, August 8, 2017 (GPN) : Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup returned to Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore for Round 2 of some superb racing on the weekend of 4^th– 6^th August. The riders had an action packed weekend beginning with multiple Practice Sessions and Rider Briefing on Friday. Saturday hosted Qualifying sessions followed by Race 1. The weekend culminated on Sunday with Race 2.

In the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup, Race 1 witnessed two tight battles between Jaden Gunawardena and Lalhruaizela for 1^stposition and Lalnunsanga and Varoon for 3^rd position. This time, Lalhruaizela from Mizoram upped his game and was close on the heels of Jaden providing a spectacular showdown to the finish line with just 1/100^th of a second between the top two finishers! 

Race 2 had Lalhruaizela and Varoon S fighting for 2^nd position all throughout and Jaden took advantage of their spat and clinched the win by a comfortable margin of 3 seconds. At the end, Lalhruaizela got the better of Varoon and took 2^nd with a lead of 0.8 seconds only!

Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup not only defines a new category in the sport in India but also gives the best motorcycle racer in the country a chance to be a part of the internationally acclaimed Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup 2017!

Both the Suzuki Gixxer Cup and the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup are being run as a part of the prestigious 20^th JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship 2017. While the Road to Rookies Cup caters to riders between the ages of 12 and 16 years, the Suzuki Gixxer Cup is for riders of 17 years and older.

Last year’s Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup winner Sachin Chaudhary also improved his performance in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Races and finished both Round 2 Open races in 4^th position. He is confident that he will fight for the podium in the coming rounds.

Sachin Chaudhary credited programmes like the Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup, which allows amateur riders to learn while competing with talented upcoming riders like himself. “Definitely, a platform like Rookies Cup helps many of my kind for performing in future. The only point I think, which will help our riders to perform there [international events] comprehensively is to undergo proper training in India before they head to compete at the international level,”he said.

“From winning the Road to Rookies Cup, to the journey in Spain was unquestionably quite challenging,” the 17-year old said recalling the time. “The main problem was having much less time for practice. I tried my very best to acclimatize myself both physically and mentally for the event. Racing on a new track (Circuito Gaudix in Granada, Spain), a new bike (125cc Metrakit) was a tough situation. And despite the loss, I gained some much-needed experience, and also some new tricks which I am able to put in use in my racing now.”

Sachin Chaudhary added “The Gixxer Cup has been a great experience thus far. It has some stiff competition, giving me the opportunity to experiment with lots of new ideas and has also been helping me in my growth plans.”

JK Tyre presents Suzuki Gixxer Cup and Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup return to Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore for Round 3 on the weekend of 1^st – 3^rd September 2017.

The second edition of Red Bull Road to Rookies Cup would culminate in the 3^rdround at Kari, as the most talented rider (of Indian Nationality) will head to Spain and get a chance to represent India in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Qualifiers in September.

Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, since its inception in 2007 has grown into one of the most thrilling 2 wheel spectacles in the world. The Rookies Cup has released new stars into the world of Grand Prix racing; both Moto2 and Moto3 World Champions in 2015 were ex Rookies. Every year the level of competition has climbed and this year’s intake are set to raise the bar yet again for the 11th running of the Cup.ENDS
