Mumbai, 23 April, 2017 (GPN) : Based on the inputs provided by Greaves Cotton Limited, one of India’s leading diesel auto engine manufacturers, the Karnataka State Police (Lashkar PS, Devaraja Sub-Division) recently raided K.L. Automobiles, a dealer in Lashkar, Mysore and seized more than 190 spurious auto parts materials which included Barrel Piston Kits, Connecting Rod Assemblies, Feed Pumps, Lumb Oil Pump Assemblies, Connecting Rod Bold Kits, Governor Support Assemblies, Piston Ring Sets, etc.
The successful raid conducted on 5th April 2017 revealed that the dealer was involved in large scale counterfeiting operations. Substandard parts were packed in counterfeit ‘Greaves’ packaging and then distributed through secure channels to other areas. The owner of the shop was caught red-handed with the infringing material during the raid action conducted at the shop and the police seized all counterfeit parts from the premises.
Greaves Cotton conducted an extensive market survey after receiving repeated complaints from the trade and consumers about the cheap quality and ineffective ‘Greaves’ branded products available in Mysore and became aware of persons/firms and business establishments manufacturing/refilling and selling spurious/ counterfeit products under the brand name and style of ‘Greaves’.
The enforcement teams consisting of the State Police and Greaves Cotton’s representatives have been working closely to identify both manufacturing units and sales outlets of counterfeit spares across major cities and trade hubs in India.

We are actively working with the police to ensure that the culprits don’t go scot free.”
