Mumbai 9 November 2016 (GPN) : One more feather added to the Celebration Club’s cap. A Half Marathon / 10K was organized on 6th November, 2016 for a very noble cause – Promoting and Encouraging Girl Child Education.

It was organized for the first time by the Club’s Hon. Secretary Mr. Hemant Nair and was met with stupendous success. Credit goes to him for conducting it in a highly professional manner and the execution was well planned.

There were a total number of 674 participants, from all age groups – young boys, girls, men, women and senior citizens who participated joyfully and enthusiastically. Some of them came from as far as Thane, Pune and Kohlapur.

Secretary of the Athletic Association, Mr. Ravi Bagdi provided the technical support. Each participant was given a chip whereby their timing was tracked.
Lokhandwala Half Marathon.(GPN)
The Marathon was flagged sharp at 6am – 21K and 6:15am – 10K, as planned, from Celebration Club by actors Dino Morea, Mukesh Rishi, Corporator Smt.Jyotsna Dighe and Sub Inspector Mr.Subhash Khanvilkar from Oshiwara Police Station.
Runners were offered biscuits, water, health drinks at various stations which were strategically placed on route the track. The LIVE music and Dhol at various points and also cheering by the public boosted and pepped up spirits of the participants and kept their spirits high.
Also, another first was the breakfast organized for all at the end of the marathon, which no other Marathon has offered so far, this was welcomed by all.
Prize distribution at the end of the marathon, in cash and medals was handed out by the Nation’s heartthrob – Actor Govinda.
The Celebration Club takes the opportunity to thank the local and traffic police for their support in monitoring traffic and ensuring smooth flow on the entire marathon route, and also the various sponsors – You Too Can Run, Surrender Caterers, P D Shetty & Jaipal Decorators who also contributed immensely to the success, were Base 52, Dr. Mickey Mehta, Suburban Diagnostics & Axis Multi Speciality Hospital.
Every drop makes an ocean… and it’s the support of ALL that made the Marathon a Huge Success!!
