A MASSIVE SILENT PROTEST MARCH CONDUCTED BY MEDIA AGAINST TOPS Guards Hired by TATA Sons

Mumbai, 8 November, 2016 (GPN) :Earlier day before yesterday The Mumbai Press Club had given an ultimatum to Tata Sons to remove TOPS guards, not only from Bombay House but also from all Tata Group companies latest by 12 noon, Monday November 7, 2016.

TOPS goons hired by the Tata’s had brutally assaulted photo-journalists and reporters outside Bombay House on Friday 4th November, 2016. Several photographers were injured in the assault by the Bombay House security staff.

Atul Kamble, photo-journalist from Mid-day was pinned down by four-five goons from TOPS, brutally punched, slapped and then pushed away from the building entrance in south Mumbai’s busy Fort area. The camera and other equipment of many photographers was badly damaged or broken by the security personnel.

Atul, along with other two photo-journalists – Shantha Kumar from TOI and Arijit Sen from HT are still in hospital recovering from several injuries.

As a group decision The Mumbai Press Club along with other organizations including Bombay News Photographers Association, Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, TV Journalists Association and BUJ had decided to lead a massive protest march on Tuesday, November 8, from Mumbai Press Club to Bombay House in case the Tata Sons fails to remove TOPS guards from Tata Group of companies by Monday, 12 noon. More agitations will continue in the coming days if the association demand is not met.

All editors and journalists continued to support and show solidarity with photo-journalists, cameramen and ground reporters who bear the brunt repeatedly from the goons hired by influential people.
