Dena Bank observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 to create public awareness against corruption.

Mumbai, November 3, 2016 (GPN) : Dena Bank observes Vigilance Awareness Week 2016 from 31st October to 5th November 2016 to create public awareness against corruption. This year, the theme of Vigilance Awareness Week is Public Participation in promoting Integrity and eradicating corruption.

The Chairman and Managing Director Shri Ashwani Kumar administered the pledge on National Unity on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week to all the Staff members. The Executive Director Smt. Trishna Guha administered to staff the citizen’s Integrity Pledge and Shri Ramesh Singh, Executive Director administered the Integrity Pledge for upholding the transparency and good governance. The message of the President, Vice President and Prime Minister and other dignitaries were also read on the occasion. The Chief Vigilance Officer read out the message of the Central Vigilance Commission.

The Bank has undertaken several activities during the week to promote the awareness of people to fight against corruption and undertaking of Citizen’s Integrity Pledge in electronic form.

The Central Vigilance Commission is the apex anti-corruption body of the country. It always strives to create public awareness against corruption and observing Vigilance Awareness Week every year is one of such awareness measures. To ensure a wider outreach especially for creation of awareness on corruption and its effects amongst the youth and college students, the Commission is of the view that, organizations with all India network can effectively carry forward this specific activity in the educational institutions including professional colleges.

The Commission for focused implementation during the Vigilance Awareness Week has identified areas/towns across the country specifically for various organizations for organizing/ conducting debates, elocution, panel discussion etc in schools, colleges including engineering/medical colleges and other such institutions for students.

Various topics relating to corruptions and its ill effects, importance of morals and values, honesty and integrity, ethics, transparency in governance and how youth can participate in the fight against corruption and such related issues are being discussed in the various events.
