Camaraderie over Cabaret

The sets of Wave Cinemas’ Ponty Chadha and T-Series in association with Raju Chadha for a Fisheye Network Productions’ ‘CABARET’ directed by Kaustav Narayan Niyogi was a very interesting one at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. The shoot marked the reunion of Aashiqui boy Rahul Roy with his mentor Mahesh Bhatt and former co-star Pooja Bhatt who will be playing the real life role of a producer. It was also Rahul Roy’s Birthday and how better can a birthday gift get?

An interesting cabaret sequence by Richa Chadda, followed by cake-cutting and birthday celebrations for Rahul Roy, the sets of Cabaret was very interesting.

Said Mahesh Bhatt, “Rahul Roy has a special place in my heart. And I am glad he is in Cabaret, playing himself. I would like Pooja to take centrestage now, as it is her baby.”

“Cabaret is the sum of Love-Life-Death-Dance, and is inspired by real-life that is far more dramatic than anything else. We gave Kaustav a title and  he came up with the story of a woman, her pain, her angst and her journey. All my movies have always had a central female character and Cabaret reinstates that.”

Talking of Rahul Mittra, CEO, Wave Cinemas, Pooja said with her usual sense of humour, “Rahul Mittra is an insane person who represents Wave Cinemas that is crazy enough to sponsor me and put money to make my crazy movies. He is crazy and put all of us together.”

About Richa Chadda, Pooja was clear, “Richa is my hero, not my heroine. And to me, she is the most glamorous woman.”.

Said Rahul Mittra, “This is one film where content will marry boxoffice. We have full faith in everything from the title to the maker, the story and the director and cast. And we are very proud at this association.”

“I was born with Aashiqui. I am reborn on my birthday with Cabaret. I am so happy to be back in the Bhatt camp, with the very makers who know me best. I am elated.”

Says Richa Chadda “It is the story of a woman from Jharkhand, a woman  with a secret and it traces her journey from Jharkhand to Mumbai to Dubai and to Bollywood as a hit star. It is a heavy drama with a strong thriller element, but in the heart of it, it is a love story.”
