Mumbai, Dec 19, 2015; The Dental profession takes a step forward today with the congregation of the masterminds of Dentistry at the Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards 2015 at the Club in Mumbai. It is the third year in succession where Famdent engages nearly 300 dentists from across the country to connect, communicate and commend by virtue of recognition for excellent Dental practices.

The Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards (FEDA) recognize the highest standards of superiority in the Dental profession, honoring individuals in respective fields for their outstanding achievement. Famdent, founded by Dr. Anil Arora & Dr. Jyotika Arora, is India’s leading Dental Publication, also specializing in organizing conferences and exhibitions for dentistry and dedicated towards improving the standards of dental education in India. With its debut in 2013 – FEDA are India’s most coveted Awards for the Achievers, Innovators and Leaders in the dental sector, and are hailed as the Indian Dental Oscars.

The award function, compered by leading Mumbai Dentist Dr. A. Kumarswamy, commenced amidst the gleaming presence of industry bigwigs like Dr. Phillip Dowell from UK (President, International College of Dentitsts), and Dr. Mahesh Verma (Past President of IDA and Director-Principal, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences); as well as glitterati like Dr. Sandesh Mayekar known for introducing aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry in India and accredited for smile designing for titles like Miss World and Miss Universe.

Sharing a global perspective on dentistry, Dr. Phillip Dowell said, “Training standards of Dentistry in India are first class and it can compete with any nation in the world. The problem is the dissemination of professionals in oral health- even in developed countries; there are 7 billion people on this planet and 4 billion have no access to oral care, which is a major challenge. Nominees across India attended the event to be awarded as ‘Outstanding dentist of the year, Clinic of the year, Academician of the year’ and other relative categories to be recognized as true stalwarts for outstanding practices in dentistry. FEDA started with 11 categories in the year of its inception (2013), scaling up to 19 prestigious categories in this edition (2015). Winners from far and wide – including Dr. Sukhvir Singh (Winner – Clinic of the Year) from a remote area like Abohar – a small town close to the India Pakistan border where his clinic caters to over 150 surrounding villages, and Dr. Mushtaq Mohammed (Winner – Orthodontist Category) from Srinagar, where some outstanding Dentistry is being done almost free of cost. These are just 2 examples of the incredible dentistry in India that would have gone virtually unnoticed otherwise.
